About STOA: A New Musical Journey
STOA: A New Musical Journey is a joyful, original musical that follows the journey of STOA, a devoted mother bear separated from her cub, John Bear. As they each navigate the forest in search of one another, their parallel adventures explore the power of trust, instinct, and the quiet courage found in the natural world.
Rooted in the spirit of American folklore, STOA blends story and song to celebrate the timeless bond between parent and child—and the resilience it takes to find our way home when the path ahead grows uncertain. Along the way, STOA and John Bear encounter a host of woodland friends who remind them that even in moments of fear or doubt, connection is what carries us forward.
With original music that’s earthy and full of soul, paired with imaginative staging and heartfelt storytelling, STOA invites audiences of all ages to rediscover the beauty of nature, the warmth of community, and the wonder of self-discovery. More than a musical, it’s a reminder that courage can be quiet—and love always leads the way.
STOA: A New Musical Journey will make its stage debut at Lycoming College’s Clarke Chapel in Williamsport from January 9 - 18, 2026.
